If you have children under 8 years old in your family, make sure they keep a close watch for Little Green Sid who might just be making an appearance at their school, nursery, or children’s centre in the near future.

Little Green Sid is the main character from The Little Green CD, a new cd of Eco Songs for Eco Kids. There are 31 Exciting Earth songs to sing and do, to be precise, all designed to help bring children and their grown-ups closer to nature and environmental awareness.

Songwriter and performer, Craig Trafford, has been test touring The Little Green Live Show to growing acclaim around Early Years and Primary settings for the past few months. “The first aim is to get the CD into every Early Years and Primary School setting in the UK as quickly as possible in order to support the growing eco consciousness in education. We’re delighted with the reaction so far and hope to keep building on it. Families are becoming eco-aware very quickly and we want to be a contributing part of that community,” says Craig.

In keeping with the eco-aware policy, not only can you access the songs in your cd player; you can print the Song and Chords E-Book and the Activities E-Book from your pc as you need them. Lesson plans will also be added for the Educator version.

In the highly interactive live show, Little Green Sid and Craig help the children to explore recycling, composting, junk-drumming, props, green ideas and lots of fun actions designed to stimulate sensory-integration. After all, harmonising the internal environment is every bit as important as harmonising with the outside natural world.

Little Green Sid was created by Jenny at http://www.excellart.com,
a small and wonderful ethical marketing company selected specifically for the project. “We hope that his image will come to represent a happy awareness-raising collaboration between music, children, their grown-ups and the environment,” says Craig.

For Craig and Paula, the pace of development could be quickened by the involvement of a ‘Green Dragon’. Paula says, “We’re running this whole project on a shoestring and we were considering taking the whole production to The Dragon’s Den, knowing that we needed a greater financial input to move forward at the quick pace we’d like.”

So if you are a Green Dragon wondering about which green project to invest money and perhaps some time and enthusiasm in, you could consider helping us develop a music based legacy for the future of the Earth through Little Green Sid’s Eco Songs.

Soon we hope to have an interactive website up and running where you can not only learn about the topics on the album but also contribute your own ideas and suggestions, and even lyric ideas for new Eco songs.

Is The Little Green CD the greenest kids album in the world? We don’t know, but you can get a free flavour by listening on http://www.myspace.com/thelittlegreencd , where you can get a free download of the song, ‘Compost Bin’.
