“The awards ceremony was really great. There was a procession with people from different nationalities and faiths, including teenagers from Nepal wearing their national costumes. They danced for us later on. There were also a lot of druids and pagans who looked amazing in their black and white cloaks carrying their staffs. The music was great and the Christian priest leading the procession was swinging a brass thing with incense. I asked about it and someone said he was burning frankincense. We could smell it all through the peace hall. At the end of the ceremony, after all the winners had received their awards, we all lit candles for world peace. I thought that was a very special thing to do.
I really enjoyed being involved with the project and the awards as it shows the importance of us all being friends. Peace Mala also teaches us not to be racist”. Kieran
“I thought the young kids from Brynaman were amazing. They did this Peace Mala story dance. There must have been about 50 of them involved. Three boys used musical instruments to guide the dance. It was very dramatic and you could see that a lot of effort had gone into it. I think Peace Mala is very important as it shows children to respect others around the world. I enjoyed doing the work for the project especially the art work which was fun”. Vicky
The awards ceremony was really good. There were loads of people there including important guests like the Lord Mayor of Cardiff and other people with gold chains. There were some MPs and the Chief Superintendent of Police and people from different parts of the world. Most of all there were lots of students and school children. The school from Manchester had to get off their train at Crew because of a rail strike. They had to get into three taxis which brought them all the way to the Temple of Peace in Cardiff. Somebody said it cost the rail company £900 one- way to get them to us! I think Peace Mala is brilliant. The bracelet isn’t just jewellery. It shows that I support peace between everyone. Peace Mala reminds us that prejudice and intolerance is wrong”. Jacob
