Young Ambassadors Can Be The Change

Harry Taylor from Cornwall did a one-day training course on an organic farm, organised by Peace Child. He learned to express ideas through performance workshops and many practical games; activities that would draw out answers from younger children. Harry was 14 at the time and he set his sights on the wider world. After two years of fundraising, he travelled to India with a group of Ambassadors, presenting to schools in Bangalore. As a result, links were made between Cornwall's schools and schools in that area.
Peace Child International helps empower young people to be the change they want to see in the world. Through secondary school workshops, the organisation finds students who would like to be Ambassadors for the Be The Change Challenge and then offers them training. They are trained to educate their peers or younger pupils on the issue of sustainability. There are now over 300 Ambassadors and they have presented to more than 18,000 schoolchildren. Currently, Ambassadors are active in North London, Hertfordshire, Cornwall, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Yorkshire. These young people have visited hundreds of schools. Here, through plays and performances, it is not unusual to see, for example, 16 year olds entertaining and inspiring 9 year olds to help bring about change.
