FRANK Water Projects

Nov 30, 2008
Positive News Issue
It was after a visit to India that Katie Alcott, herself a victim of a common water-borne illness, dysentery, was inspired to create FRANK Water, an ethical bottled water brand. This exciting social enterprise seeks to utilise the burgeoning bottled water market in the UK to support sustainable water projects worldwide. This water-for-water scheme means that for every 1 litre of FRANK Water sold in the UK, 200 litres of clean water are provided for their projects. FRANK uses the world’s most effective water filtering process, a 5 stage, UV filtering technology to provide purified water. By donating 100 per cent of its profits to the scheme, the charity had funded ten community owned and run facilities in India, benefiting over 100,000 people.

This Christmas, FRANK Water is running a campaign to provide a refillable jerry can (£2.00) to every family living in the villages, where their projects have been installed. For those living below the poverty line, the cost of buying a jerry is simply too great. “That is why,” explains Sarah Flint, Office Manager at FRANK Water, “We hope that instead of buying Christmas cards this year, people will donate just a small amount of money and in return will receive a ‘Jerry Christmas’ card to download or an e-card to send to friends and family.”

If you would like to support this campaign then please visit www.justgiving/fwpjerrychristmas to donate your £2.00.
