There are just a couple of weeks left for children from around the world to submit their artwork for The 13th Annual Peace Pals International Arts Exhibition and Awards. Winners and top selections will become part of a worldwide tour! The deadline for entries is the 30th July this year and all the entries will get a participation certificate.
The Art Exhibition and Awards are organised by Peace Pals, a
project run by The World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS). WPPS is an
international non-profit, non-religious organization, affiliated with
the United Nations Department of Public Relations, its mission is to
spread the universal message, 'May Peace Prevail On Earth'. This is the message that is the main theme of all the images submitted for the awards.
Last year over 4000 participants from 35 different countries took part with the winners being selected by a prestigious panel of international judges. Bright and colourful images from Thailand, the Philippines, Romania, Croatia, China , the US and Canada were amongst the winners. The entries offered some thought provoking images with a common
message of peace and harmony amongst the peoples of the world. If past
years are anything to go by, the 2010 exhibition will deliver a powerful
and inspiring message of peace.
2009 also saw the start of the Ambassadors of Peace Award. This selects one young person from each of the participating counties to have their image represent their nations commitment to peace. In the UK Mia Newman aged 9 took the honours with her happy picture of peoples of all ages, genders and races united under a rainbow of peace. If you want to find out more about Peace Pals in the UK you can contact the European branch of the society. This is based in Dumfries Scotland (please see the address at the end of this article).
