National Allotments Week
9th - 15th August 2010
UK

This year National Allotments Week runs from 9-15 of August and seeks to promote awareness and availability of allotments both locally and nationally. The aim is to show the public and the local authorities the level of interest in this type of gardening and demonstrate strength of support for the heritage of allotment culture.

Amateur gardeners and Allotment Associations throughout the UK are again being called on to raise the profile of allotment gardening, by supporting the week with their own local events, such as exhibitions and shows, open days, talks, film showings or anything that promotes the social benefits of working on and enjoying an allotment.

The  awareness week is promoted by the National Allotment Gardens Trust in partnership with the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners.  They would like to highlight the benefits to health, education and community well-being that allotment gardening can bring.  "Let’s make it a week we can be proud of, and another successful annual event." say the events promoters.

If you would like to participate or get more information about how you and your group can get involved please click here to contact the National Allotment Gardens Trust.
