A multicultural event at Chickenshed on Wednesday 16th July saw people from Chechnya, Swaziland, Japan, Australia, Kuwait, Russia, Bolivia and Bangladesh come together celebrating the success of SeaChange. SeaChange is Chickenshed’s outstanding new production linking children from every continent in a spectacular theatre show.

Following the workshop, guests for the evening performance of SeaChange attended a champagne reception and then had the opportunity to meet Guest of Honour, Lord Richard Attenborough CBE. Lord Attenborough was attending the Annual Founders Summer Reception hosted by Lady Jane Rayne, where Chickenshed Patrons were invited to an exclusive evening to celebrate their involvement and support of the Company. Lord Attenborough spoke about his support of Chickenshed and the Chickenshed Children's Theatre Bursary which he has named in honour of his daughter and grand daughter who tragically died in the Tsunami of 2005.

Lord Attenborough said: "Chickenshed brings together people who might be pushed to the side, who might not be given the opportunity, who might feel that they are hard done by. Chickenshed says ‘hey, come in because you are welcome. Don’t ever think there isn’t a place for you, because there is one, and it is here, at Chickenshed.’" About the new bursary: "My wife and I came to the conclusion that we wished to call it the Jane and Lucy fund. Jane and Lucy benefited so largely from our friends and the friendship and education that we were able to give them. Bless you darlings you are not here any more, but you are here, because we can take joy in your life by connection of your name and what we believe in with Chickenshed. And so here you are."
