The winter issue of Positive News is available now and is brimming with solutions to some of the challenges facing humanity. We investigate biomimicry, the new discipline that studies nature and uses it as a blueprint to design and build more sustainably. There is also a brand new, exclusive Transition News section, bringing you the latest developments from the Transition Town movement.
There is plenty of celebration in the new issue too – New Zealand tops the tables in its pursuit of peace, the world comes together for the most widespread day of political action in history, and the UK's first energy micro-grid goes live. In addition, we have teamed up with Sustained magazine as a judge and media partner for their Dandelion Award, which recognises the achievements of social enterprises. In the winter issue of Positive News you can read all about this round's winner, the Youth Food Movement.
Across the paper there is a strong sense of people uniting. Whether it is young people using the arts to bridge divides in conflict areas, local communities starting up their own currencies, or international campaigns expanding online – we show that everywhere, there are people taking steps to create healthy and fulfilling lives for all.
In less than a week, international leaders will meet in Copenhagen for a climate change conference, which is being referred to as the most important meeting of our age. Can they achieve what is needed to tackle climate change? As the new issue of Positive News reveals, one thing is clear – whatever happens, citizens throughout the world will continue to take action themselves to ensure a positive future.
If you have not done so already, please support us by subscribing today and become part of the growing movement for positive change. If you want to inspire someone this Christmas – why not give a friend a gift subscription?
